It is of the utmost importance to be acquainted with the Official Language of the country one intends to work and live in for a certain period of time. From the capacity of everyday communication to the mastery of the language in various circumstances, namely the most formal ones, there are several stages of learning which correspond to the objectives of each trainee and to the contexts he/she is going to develop his/her activity in.
As a Non-Governmental Organisation for Development, which has developed its activity promoting and supporting projects in the Portuguese Speaking Countries for more than thirty years, and also holder of a specialised Documentation Centre concerning those countries, CIDAC has structured a programme for Portuguese Language Training aimed for development agents, technicians and diplomats, dealing with fields such as cultural, social, political and economical realities of the country of destination. The programme is based on active and participated training methodologies focused on the communication needs of the trainees.
CIDAC's courses are certified by DGERT (official entity that accredits quality services in Portugal) and are also correlated to the linguistic levels of the Council of Europe (the Common European Framework of Reference).
CIDAC provides language courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced courses. The specific and thematic treatment can be latter foreseen.
The courses are normally intensive - from 3 up to 5 hours per day:
- individual courses (duration is variable according to students' needs)
- group courses (from 2 up to 6 participants)
- children courses (between the ages of 6 and 16)
The most requested courses last: 100, 150 or 200 hours.
CIDAC has a reservation service for purposes of accommodation and babysitting as a means to support the organizations and the trainees who hold contracts for the Courses at CIDAC.
